What's all this about the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation)? On October 19 2004 I received a notice from the BBC instructing me to remove all BBC (c) pictures from this site. It is indeed their right to request this of me. The BBC have had since early 1997 to make this request, why now? ?? Not all of the pictures are (c) the BBC, so why close the site? This site is a throwback to an old Internet tradition, the personal home page. Where individuals have a forum to describe who they are and what makes them tick. Indeed, up until December 2003 the site was still called The David Grantham Home Page "Some Girls You May Like" Out of the 69 individual celebs, 43 were directly affected either totally or partially by the BBCs request. When the (c) BBC pictures were removed, only 32% of the total number of pictures remained. This site has always been a home page for showcasing the girls I like. Since the national broadcaster decided I am no longer allowed to do this (for 68% of the pictures) I decided to close the site. Closed, all of it? All of the pictures have been removed. However, the news, faq, forum and links are all still active. (for what it's worth!) What's this site all about? Best described as, a multiple female celebrity picture gallery. Who is worthy of being on this site? Only celebrities I find attractive. How long has this site been going? On the news page, since 23-May-1998, my regular visitors will know the site goes back to early 1997. Where does all the content come from? I capture all of the pictures/video clips myself, from television. How long have I been capturing? Since 1992 Some of the pictures have dubious quality. Yes they do! If the source material is good, then the resulting pictures will be good. If not, then never mind. I believe the content is more important. The pictures are too small. Due to the pictures being captured from a 16:9 source, they may be smaller than ones captured from a 4:3 source. If I configure for 4:3, I may miss some of the action left and right. I do not rescale the pictures, they are as broadcast. What hardware is used for capturing? Amiga 500, Colour Pic Plus. Amiga 500+, A530, Colour Pic Plus. Amiga 4000, WarpEngine, Vlab Y/C video capture card. Various configuration Pcs. I built a dedicated capture machine, so I don't have to stop everything when capturing whole programs! Athlon 1200mhz, 512Mb DDR, Pinnacle PCTV Pro TV tuner, Miro DC30 Video capture card. Where did all the code come from? All of the code on this site is my own creation. -Except the hit counter and a HTTP gzip solution as my server does not have mod_gzip enabled. What software was used to create this site? Notepad for HTML and PHP (No Front Page or Dreamweaver here!) Various image manipulation packages, Photoshop and Virtualdub being the main ones. MySQL database. The video clip site is unavailable/offline/slow. The web server that hosts the clips is located in my bedroom, and from time to time I may make the clips unavailable. (Approximate availability, opens 11pm closes 11am GMT) The speed you can download from me is the speed I can upload to you. As I am on a residential 1Mbps ADSL line, your maximum download rate will be 256Kbps. As the files are not mirrored on another site, the use of download accelerator software will not speed up the download at all. How do I play the video clips? The clips are all AVI format and are encoded with DivX V5.05 You will need to have the DivX codec installed from Here (DivX official site) Or use the ffdshow DirectShow filter found Here How about giving us DVD quality video clips? Rant Digital TV broadcasts in the UK are a disgrace, amongst other things, the bit rate is too low. /Rant Due to the original medium (Broadcast TV) the clips are of an inferior quality to start with. Also bandwidth limitations, I have reduced the file size thus degrading the quality. I spend quite along time testing different bit rates and various image filters, in an attempt to minimise the quality degradation. I have seen some of the content on other sites. You will find my pictures/video clips on all the major celebrity picture warehousing websites. However, you will see them here first (Before they are nicked!) Can content from this site be used elsewhere? If you see content derived from here on a subscription site, please make sure you don't pay for access. I firmly believe paying for content that is offered for free elsewhere is wrong; especially as the pictures/video clips are copyrighted in the first place. You may use a few pictures, if you have a speciality site, e.g. Up Skirt, Feet, Down Blouse that sort of thing. As a courtesy you should add this site to your links page. Do not use content from here if you intend to use 100s or 1000s of pictures, add a logo or sell them on a celeb cd. Can I hot link? No, if I catch anyone hot linking, I reserve the right to deface the image in any manner I see fit. Submissions? I have decided to stop hosting pictures other than my own. Forum rules and guidelines.
